After all the cards landed, with 343 hands in play, we have the WINNERS of today’s Annual ATV Poker Rally!!

Congratulations to,

Hannah D for her First place hand, with a Full House winning her $343.00!!

Matt I for his Second place hand, with another Full House netting him $205.80

James G for hisThird place hand, a Flush has him taking home $137.20

Thank you to our Volunteers and everyone that came out, you truly made our day by riding with us and showing your support for the Lac Ste Anne ATV Club.

A1-A3 - Major Repairs going into Alberta Beach - Completed

Nov 28th 2025 Update,

We are happy to announce that this years trail project of re-surfacing the A1-A3 trail leaving east from Alberta Beach on Museum RD has been completed!

The trail has been crowned and widened for the increase traffic this trail has been seeing in the winter months and will make this trail much more usable year round.

As we get closer to DEC 1 this is an important upgrade to our winter trails as Stanger Hills moves to Season Restrictions Dec 1 for Snowmobile Only until April 1st 2026.

We Look forward to holding our annual Winter ATV Rally again in 2026 and will be Announce Dates as soon as plans are finalized.

Fall Trail Maintenance - To Begin Soon!!

We have received funding from the AOHVA to continue our Trail Maintenance Program into 2026! The plan this year is to install multiple culverts and resurface the trail going East from Alberta Beach - A1-A3.

Stanger Hills will continue to have yearly crowning and cat work to keep the trail fun and family friendly!

Club Update - The Club has COMPLETED the Mulching, Matting and Resurfacing South of L5 towards Lake Isle along with many other trail repairs to washed out sections. We have also installed multiple control measures to ensure the trails are used for their intended purposes, OHV Multi-Use with Low pressure tires, under 68" wide and under 1800 Lbs.

We got the call from the County this morning to close ALL ATV trails effective immediately.

ALL ATV trails in Lac Ste Anne County are now CLOSED until further notice due to this ATV / Fire Ban.

Please watch for updates as conditions change.

Stanger Hills Trails are OPEN!!

Trails are OPEN!!

Trails are now open to ATV / SxS traffic at Stanger Hills.

Please keep to the mapped and marked OHV trails as many of the previously groomed snowmobile trails lead to and cross private/protected property. Please respect the land owners and do not trespass in those areas. Locked gates are locked for a reason and never cut fences.

Pack OUT what you Pack IN! Leave no impact.

Please ride with Caution as we may have some trees down after some strong winds the other day.

We will have a Seasonal closure as the frost comes out of the ground so watch for updates as the weather warms up.

Construction has begun on trail and we have been mulching south of L5, please use caution in this area.

We look forward to getting out on another club ride very soon!!

TRAILS CLOSED - SNOWMOBILE ONLY

Hi Everyone!!

We had a good run for ATVing until almost the End of February this year but it has finally snowed enough for the Snowmobile Club to go out grooming.

The Trails are now CLOSED to ATV traffic and are Snowmobile ONLY. The restriction Ends April 1st 2024.

The Snowmobile Club Spends Thousands of Dollars to do ONE pass of the trails with their groomer and we ask our community of riders to respect the work they do by keeping wheels off the groomed trails.

We do have a winter trail network leaving east from Alberta Beach and we encourage all ATV traffic to use those trails in the winter. Maps can be found on the Lac Ste Anne ATV Club Website. www.lacsteanneatvclub.com

Happy Holidays Everyone,

Holiday Event:

We have had an amazing year rebuilding the trails in Lac Ste Anne County!! We couldn't do it without the support of our members and the dedication of a small group volunteers.

We'd like to see you all again before the calender rolls over to 2024!

We will have a club ride Dec 30th leaving at 11 AM from Stanger Hills Staging Area. The fires will be warm but the riding will be brisk so dress accordingly.

Bring your favourite Fireside snacks/lunch and the club will have Hot Chocolate to keep you warm.

Trail Workbee - Saturday, Dec 9th.

Meeting in Darwell, North of the stop sign in the school parking lot at 9:30 am. After a quick but important safety meeting , we will be heading to work sites by 10 am. Work as long as you can, we usually wrap up around 4 pm.

We will be doing general trail clean-up and tree clearing.

Please reach out to Craig Stephens - craigstephens2008@hotmail.com with any questions or concerns . He will be leading this Work Bee.

TASKS:
- General tree clearing.
- Pre-season derby and garbage cleanup
- Trail inspections to confirm it is ready for upcoming season
- Tasks to be assigned at morning meeting

Bring the tools you are comfortable using and have the knowledge to use in a safe manner.

Work apparel is a must.

ATVs and Chainsaws with proper protective gear are required to complete the tasks at hand.

Come out and meet the dedicated people that work on our local trails.

Please get your ASA Trail membership or Lac Ste Anne ATV Club membership as soon as possible if you plan to come out. The ASA/AOHVA work safe policy requires Volunteers to be members of the ASA or AOHVA.

Club Update - The club has secured a TFA with Alberta Environment to finish the trail repairs between M3-L5 on our network. Trail work to start once we dry out the low spots. Mulching and Matting to continue south of L5 towards Lake Isle to complete another destination spot and loop back to Stanger Hills via Rge RD 55 and Lake Isle Rd.

Trail Under Construction - M1-M3 - FIRE/OHV Ban still in place

We are still under a Full Fire/OHV Ban in Alberta, stay tuned for updates and trail conditions.

Please be aware that even though we are under a ban our Trail Projects are still underway.

Cat work will continue on trail, May 16th and should be completed by the weekend. We will also be planting grass in these areas to protect against ground erosion.

Seasonal Closure of Stanger Hills Trails and Surrounding Area - April 18th 2023

Stanger Hills Trails and Surrounding Area are Temporarily Closed till it dries out and firms up a bit. The frost has come out of the ground early this year and the newly maintained trails are getting torn up, please respect the closure as we want to keep the trails in good shape for everyone. We will be posting again soon when they reopen. Stay tuned for our annual AGM announcement coming soon as well.

Wow! What an amazing turnout at the annual Alberta Beach SnoMo Days ATV Poker Rally!!

Thank you to all the Riders and Families that came out to support OHV in Lac Ste. Anne County.

We had 503 hands in play with 296 Riders, and 53 Kids taking part!!

Season restrictions have been reinstated at Stanger Hills.

Trails will be ⛔️CLOSED⛔️ until further notice leaving from Stanger Hills.

With the rain overnight and the quickly thawing ground we need to protect the work done last year that still needs to be completed.

The club will be out in the coming days/week to drain the water pooled on the trail to allow low lying areas time to dry and firm up.

We hope to reopen again as soon as possible weather permitting.

We still have lots of work planned for this summer in the Stanger Hills zone, watch for Workbee announcements coming soon!!

AGM to be announced early next week!!

Look forward to getting back on trail ASAP!

2022 Family Day Rally Winners

We’d like to thank all the riders and volunteers that came out today and enjoyed a beautiful day in Lac Ste. Anne County! It was a brisk day but spirits were high! It was great to see all the happy faces at the checkpoints.

Stanger Hills Update

Project still under construction

After a site inspection by the County of Lac Ste Anne and its advisors, the Stranger Hills area will remain temporarily ⛔️Closed⛔️ for ongoing trail repairs and improvements.

We are finally getting Mother Nature to cooperate with our plans! Trails in low lying areas are drying out nicely to allow us access and the opportunity for repairs.

Does this mean all the trails in Lac Ste Anne are closed? ‍♂️

NO!! The trails from M1 heading south on our map are OPEN and have had their own repairs completed last fall to help get better access to more riding area. The trails are NOT accessible via the staging area at Stanger Hills but can be accessed via Rge Rd 61 and Twnshp Rd 550 shown on the map in the images.

Please respect local land owners and do not trespass on their property. Please stay on trail and respect the work done on upgrading the access to more riding area. Plenty of mud holes to still play in and you can take those friends and family with 2wd or dirt bikes with you know.

Please pack out what you pack in and never ride under the influence. Please keep all fires to designated fire pits.

Another Sucessful Poker Rally

The club would like to extend a big thank you to all those who braved the weather to joins us for the rally.We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Rapid Revolutions and Wild Country Powersports for helping to both sponsor the event and man checkpoints - we would have very likely been short of manpower without them. If you ever have a chance to meet Cam and Melinie Beaulieu be sure to compliment them on the fantastic job they do organizing this event year after year.

ATV's on Snomobile Trails

The mapped, maintained and approved snowmobile trails in our area are looked after by the Alberta Beach Snowmobile Club. When the snow accumulates around 10 inches most ATV’s have difficulty maneuvering the hills and trails, which at that time the snowmobile club begins grooming and the club would ask for respect from the ATV community.

Some of the snowmobile trails are on private land and these owners only open the trail to snowmobiles and ATV’s become trespassers. Snowmobilers must purchase a trail pass to use private property which provides our club and land owner with liability insurance. This trial pass helps fund the costs occurred in grooming and maintaining the trail. The greatest advantage of having maintained snowmobile trails is that we can groom them and make riding much safer and help prevent trespassing. After many hours of volunteer work and much expense a well groomed snowmobile trail can be destroyed by ATV’s.

So therefore the snowmobile club asks that ATV users to be respectful and stay off when trails are groomed and most importantly do not use private land. The Snowmobile Club is open to ATV use on “non groomed trails” that are on public lands.

As both groups are OHV and still are blessed to have a place to ride it is in all best interest to work together. It is a privilege not a right to have trails in Alberta and that can be revoked at any time by any level of government.

A snowmobile is designated as such when manufactured. Any vehicle (bike, truck or ATV) altered and fitted with tracks cannot be designated as a snowmobile (insurance issues).

Another successful Quad Wars

We'd like to send a thanks out to all the participants and spectators that came out for the event. The weather was perfect and it was a great day as we saw some fierce races and had some good laughs.

Also, thank you to all the volunteers, Melinie and Cam Beaulieu in particular, who worked very hard to ensure the event went smoothly.

While the event was a success, we have begun to see declining number of contestants that come out to race. We do know that many riders didn't want to risk breakdowns before the next CCMR race, but we also feel that it's time for a bit of a redesign to the mud pit. The redesign is still in the works but I'm sure it will be awesome and a completely different experience. Be sure to check it out next year!!!

We had another great turnout this year! We are unsure exactly how many machines were there but had 594 registered riders. Thank you very much to all those who came.

The 50/50 was run by the Alberta Beach Lion's club who'd been selling tickets for quite some time. The winner was Lakota Wood who won $4696.

As a result of the recent announcement of expansion of the Castle Wildland Park and new Castle Provincial Park – ultimately the closure of OHV trails – we strongly urge you to contact:

We are asking that you write a letter or email and voice your concerns and disappointment to the Alberta Government regarding the OHV trails that will be lost.

SnowMo Days - HELP NEEDED!

We must now plea to our members and all those who have enjoyed our events in the past for volunteers. We need volunteers for the ATV rally on Feb 20. All volunteers will still have an opportunity to ride the rally. We are anticipating a higher than usual turnout again this year and will require help to ensure a fun day for everyone.

We also require volunteers to assist with the Kids' OHV Novelty Challenge on Feb 19. This event continues to grow in popularity year after year and it is becoming increasingly difficult to guarantee a fun day without adequate assistance. There is very little work involved and it is great for some good laughs.

Your input regarding helmet use on public lands

The Alberta Off Highway Vehicle Association is encouraging organizations and individual OHV users to fill out a short survey regarding opinions of mandatory helmet use.

Traffic Safety Act consultation

Share your thoughts about helmet use for Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) on public land and penalties for drivers traveling at excessive speeds on Alberta roads.

We’re consulting with Albertans to understand attitudes and opinions towards Off-Highway Vehicle helmet use on public land and towards excessive speeding penalties. This is being done to improve safety on Alberta’s roadways.

Helmets for Off-Highway Vehicles

Alberta Health Services (AHS) data show that between 2009 and 2013, on average, more than 21 people were killed in Alberta as a result of OHV use each year. Medical examiner statistics show that 41 per cent of ATV deaths are a result of head injuries.

Any changes to the law will not apply to helmets worn on private land. Survey respondents will also be asked for their thoughts on additional exemptions based on age of riders and what the OHV is being used for.

Survey participants will be asked to respond to questions about OHV helmet use on public land.

Excessive Speed

Alberta Transportation statistics show that, on average, there are 1,165 convictions for speeding more than 50 km/h over the limit in the province each year. Drivers traveling at this speed are subject to a mandatory court appearance where a judge can impose penalties such as a fine or license suspension.

Participants will help determine if more severe penalties for excessive speed are needed and what penalties are appropriate.

How input will be used

The Government of Alberta is considering amendments to the Traffic Safety Act (0.7 MB), which will be based on the responses gathered from this survey. Legislation is expected to follow in the Fall 2016 session.

Penalties for violating public lands reinstated

The province will reinstate tickets and specified penalty amounts for violations on Alberta’s public lands effective August 6.

Government will reinstate previously approved specified penalties for offences under the Public Lands Administration Regulation (PLAR). When the PLAR consolidated four regulations in 2011, including the Forest Recreation Regulation, the violations were amended, however the specific ticket amounts were omitted.

“We need to protect and respect our public lands and those who don’t can now be ticketed on the spot. This approach will ensure enforcement personnel can be out on the land helping Albertans instead of spending their time in court.”

Penalty amounts for public lands offences range from $100 to $500, depending upon the nature of the violation. Enforcement officers may now ticket people for offences related to off-highway vehicle use, damage and destruction to resources, and inappropriate waste disposal.

The ability to issue tickets under the PLAR is another tool for enforcement personnel who may also issue written warnings, require the person(s) responsible to repair any damage they caused or compel the person(s) responsible to appear in court. Not all violations under this regulation, however, are ticket offences.

Government will initiate a public education and awareness campaign to inform Albertans about the specified fines. The campaign will include enforcement personnel informing users of public lands about the reinstated fines.

This May, government took steps to heighten enforcement on public lands through a co-ordinated effort by several enforcement agencies and use of the Report A Poacher line. Since May 1, Fish and Wildlife Officers, Conservation Officers and Seasonal Park Rangers have issued approximately 1,120 written warnings and 845 charges under various pieces of legislation.

Anyone who witnesses serious public lands abuse can phone the 24-hour Report A Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800.

Province Wide Fire Ban - Limit OHV Use

As you are likely well aware, Alberta has announced a province wide fire ban. In addition to banning open fires and charcoal briquettes, they have also banned incendiary shooting targets. Currently, the province has not taken measures to ban OHV use but is pleading for us to limit OHV use as much as possible.

I you do ride this weekend, please ensure your spark arrestors are in place and that you are vigilant about keeping your exhaust and muffler clear of burnable debris.

Check Alberta Fire Bans before going out, and follow ALL instructions.
If camping, do not leave cooking stoves or lanterns unattended.
Avoid OHV use as much as possible.
Do not throw out lit cigarettes.

While the province has not instated a BAN on OHV use, please be mindful that a fire started by OHV use right now could very well result in an outright ban in addition to drawing negative attention during these sensitive political times.

Last Friday's Club Ride

It was great to see new faces at the club ride on Friday. We had a great turnout and the weather was fantastic. Although the trails were still a little too frozen for us to do a proper maintenance assessment, we still had a great ride. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did!

SnoMo Days Volunteers Needed

We require four volunteers for the Kids Novelty OHV Challenge on Sunday, Feb 15. We will need two people to man the registration desk and another two to mark the track and direct participants.

Likewise, we could use an extra hand or two with the Poker Rally on Monday, Feb 16.

We would like to send out a sincere and well deserved thank you to all who volunteered for the work bee on Oct 25. With a record turnout of 24 people, we were able to quickly complete our work, allowing us time to socialize and ride.

We did some routine brush cleanup and manged to lay down 14 fiberglass ATV mats. Some pictures of the work bee have been uploaded to our new photo gallery section: Oct 2014 Trail Maintenance Photos

Family Days ATV Poker Rally - What a hoot!

The 2014 Family Day poker rally was a great success again this year. The weather was great and we had a great turnout with 307 registered riders.

Thank you to everyone who showed up for this day of fun. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to work bee volunteers

We were happy to see 12 volunteers show up for yesterday's work bee. The group had a nice day out and was able to clean a lot of deadfall that had accumulated this year. In addition to the much needed cleanup of deadfall, many trees were cut down in order to provide the room necessary for a snow groomer to pass through.

"Save The Beaver River Trestle" on Alberta's Iron Horse Trail

As many of you probably know, on June 22, 2012 vandals set fire to the Beaver River Trestle, rendering the historic train trestle unusable and closing a section of the Iron Horse Trail. A competition has been entered for the Aviva Community Fund for funding to have the trestle restored - all that's needed is votes.

There are 3 qualifying rounds of voting before the final vote. This cause is now in the second qualifier after losing out in the first qualifier - many votes are still required to continue to the semi-finals. There are 7 days left before the voting deadline for the second qualifier and each voter can vote once per day.
